About the Therapy
Somatic therapy is a body-oriented approach to healing that recognises the connection between physical sensations and emotional and psychological experiences. Rather than relying solely on talking about problems, somatic therapy works with what you feel in your body — tension, numbness, restlessness, constriction — to help process and release stored stress and trauma.
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine that focuses on resolving trauma by working with the body's nervous system. It helps discharge the survival energy that gets "stuck" after overwhelming experiences, gradually restoring a sense of safety and regulation. SE does not require you to re-tell or re-experience traumatic events — instead it works with what is present in your body right now.
Hakomi is a mindfulness-based, body-centred form of psychotherapy. It uses gentle awareness of present-moment experience — sensations, emotions, impulses — to uncover and transform the deep beliefs and patterns that shape how we live. It is a particularly gentle and non-confrontational method, effective for a wide range of people and situations.
No. While somatic therapy is highly effective for trauma, it also helps people working through anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship difficulties, chronic pain, and anyone seeking deeper self-understanding and personal growth. You don't need to have a diagnosis or a clear "reason" to seek this kind of support.
Each session is unique and guided by what you bring in the moment. Generally, we begin with a check-in to sense where you are arriving from and what feels present. Then, using mindfulness and body awareness, we explore what is here — in your sensations, your feelings, your impulses. There is no fixed script — the work follows what emerges organically. Sessions are 60 minutes.
Somatic therapy includes conversation, but places equal or greater emphasis on body awareness. It is experiential rather than purely cognitive — you are not just talking about your experience, you are feeling it in real time, which often allows for deeper and more lasting change. Many clients find it distinctly different from, and complementary to, more traditional talk-based approaches.
About Practical Matters
Online sessions take place via video call. You will need a quiet, private space with a stable internet connection. Many clients find online sessions just as effective as in-person work — somatic therapy translates well to video because much of the work involves your own internal awareness, not physical touch.
Regular 60-minute sessions cost €75. The initial 20-minute consultation is free, with no obligation to continue.
This varies by individual. Many clients begin with weekly sessions and adjust frequency over time as they develop their own internal resources and as the work deepens. We will discuss what makes sense for you during our initial conversation and revisit it as we go.
Sessions are available in English, Italian, and French. Work in the language that feels most natural and safe to you.
Yes. In-person sessions are available at my studio in Perugia, Italy (Via Beata Angela da Foligno 3A, 06024 Perugia). I also see the majority of my clients online.
The best way is to book a free 20-minute consultation. We can discuss your situation, I can explain a bit more about how I work, and together we can sense whether this approach is a good fit. There's no pressure to commit to anything — it's simply a conversation.
